In-Person Birth Doula Support

$1200

  • These visits are your personalized birth preparation sessions! We will talk about your dreams and fears for your birth and all the choices you have along the way in order to prepare you.

We will talk about your birth plan, your goals and how you can achieve them. We will go over comfort measures, pain coping techniques, labor positions, and more!

Birth is the most intimate event- these visits are essential for you feeling comfortable at your birth with your doula in your personal space. We love having these meetings in person if possible.

  • There are so many things that will be new to you with this pregnancy. We will guide you through these 40 weeks and beyond so that you aren’t wandering the internet falling into rabbit holes of baby and pregnancy things every night!

We will educate you on the standard procedures for your upcoming prenatal appointments with your OBGYN or midwives so you know what to expect and what questions to ask during that visit. If the visit will likely include something you need to make a decision on, we will prepare you with informed consent (ex. do you want to take the standard glucose test, or do you want to know about alternatives?).

  • Think of us as your birth BFF! We are available for you to text or call anytime you have a random question or want our opinion on conflicting information you found online.

  • We are on call for your birth from 37 weeks until delivery. When you are in early labor, if you are managing well at home, we will be supporting you by phone. As labor progresses and you feel like you are ready for more support, we will come to you, ready to guide you through your labor. We will be a continuous presence throughout your entire labor, even when nursing staff switches out or your partner needs a quick nap to recharge.

Based on what we have discussed during your prenatal appointments, we will help you advocate for and achieve your ideal birth. We will help with labor positioning, coping mechanisms, and emotional support.

This is the best part of the package- for us and you!

  • After your baby is born, we will be there to help you latch the baby for the first time, if needed. We can also assist with initial breastfeeding in the hospital before you are moved into the postpartum room, or at home.

We also have excellent referrals to local IBCLCs (top tier lactation consultants) if more in depth help is necessary.

  • For our hospital birthers: the first two hours after birth are full of critical decisions that we can help support. Delayed cord clamping and the newborn exam happen in this time period. You will likely have many items on your birth plan regarding these things, and we will help you and your partner to make sure everything goes according to your wishes.

For our home birthers: we will help your midwives get you settled into bed with your new baby so you can spend the next two hours soaking up uninterrupted skin to skin and bonding time. We will help with breastfeeding, get your bathroom set up with postpartum supplies, clean up from the birth, get any needed laundry started, and serve you some food before we leave.

  • During this visit, we can talk about your birth, answer any questions you have about it, and just relish in the glory of what you just accomplished! We are a listening ear for any emotional changes you might be going through. We will help with light housekeeping, and bring you a warm, nourishing meal to support your healing. We will only hold your baby if you want to shower or nap- this visit is not for us to cuddle your baby while you work.

  • Nothing beats going through big life changes with other mamas that are in the same stage as you. We will connect you with our clients who are due the same month as you so that you have community and friendship during this time!

Virtual Birth Doula Support

$900

Everything the in person birth doula package includes, but virtually!

Prenatal and postpartum appointments will be held via Zoom, and we will accomplish everything as mentioned for the in person package. Prenatal education will be delivered via phone, FaceTime, or Zoom, and we will make sure you and your partner feel totally confident heading into labor on your own, with us a phone call away!

Think of us as the doula in your pocket.

As your labor begins, we will provide on demand support via text, FaceTime, or phone call. We will be there to reassure you what you are experiencing is normal, or advise if we sense it isn’t. We will coach you and your partner to use various labor positions that we have practiced in our prenatal sessions, provide tips to encourage labor progress, give you ideas for comfort measures and pain relief, and provide verbal encouragement the whole way!

Since we will be listening or watching your labor via phone, we will be able to hear your care provider discussing what is going on, and help advocate for you to help you reach your birth goals. If medical decisions need to be made, we are able to help translate what is being said into terms you fully understand so that you can make informed choices.

If distance, hospital visitor limits, or personal preference keeps you from hiring us as your in person birth doula, this virtual doula package is perfect for you!

“Amanda is incredible! I found her very last minute and she worked with me trying to get to know me and my family. She asked amazing questions and provided great resources for me to help myself prep for birth. I called Amanda when I was finding contractions too difficult. Once she arrived she spoke softly and was trying to feel out what I needed. She offered suggestions and reminded me to drink water or eat before things got super intense. While my husband attended to our toddler, Amanda was right there doing hip squeezes. She suggested different positions to labor in and once I told her I was struggling, she saw where I was initially tensing up and gave suggestions on how to relax during the contractions which was HUGE! I felt like she was the right amount of hands on for me specifically. She wasn’t overbearing or interrupting my focus, but attentive to me the whole time. She was extremely encouraging and I was able to tune into her voice during the harder contractions and found her to be extremely encouraging. I don’t think my birth would’ve gone the way it did without Amanda’s support and help. If I give birth again, Amanda is going to be my go-to doula.”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. We need to verify that we have availability for your due date and that we service your birth location. If your mind is already made up about hiring us, we don’t have to have a long call! We’ll just double check the details align, and we’ll send over your contract.

  • For hospital births: You will likely see your OB in triage, when a decision about new medication/intervention is occurring, and right before your baby is born. OBs will not hang out in your labor room helping you. They may have other patients at the same time as you, or they may go to their office practice while you are laboring to continue seeing patients until you are closer to delivering.

Nurses also may have multiple patients in labor at the same time, and they have a lot of extra work to do, such as charting while you are in labor. Occasionally they will be able to help you during labor, but it will not be a consistent presence.

For homebirths: Midwives will be setting up the birthing pool, charting, taking your vitals, listening to baby, etc. There may be extra space for them to support you, but their focus is more on preparing to ensure a safe delivery rather than continuous physical support during labor.

Doulas are able to provide the continuous emotional and physical support to fill in the gaps of your birthing team. Studies have shown the continuous presence of doulas lead to better birth outcomes and overall satisfaction with your birth experience!

  • A midwife is a medical professional, there to ensure you and your baby remain safe. A doula is not a medical professional. Doulas help with emotional and physical support.

  • Nope! We are here to enhance the bond between you and your partner during labor. Masculine energy supporting your feminine energy in the birth space is a beautiful connection to witness. We will equip your husband with the tools he needs to support you physically and emotionally during labor. Men usually want to help and protect their partner from pain, and seeing the one they love in labor is tough for them. With our help, he will feel like he is doing the right things to support you during birth. In our prenatal visits, we will show him exactly how to do this!

  • We will set you up with the knowledge and confidence to handle early labor at home by yourself with your partner. This is typically a time where it is important for you to rest and sleep as much as possible, and contractions are not intense at this point. When labor starts progressing to the point where you feel you need extra support, call us and we will come to support you. Bottom line, we are here for you whenever you need us during labor, but most moms usually call at the beginning of active labor, or when they are ready to head in to the hospital.

  • We specialize in unmedicated hospital births and homebirths. However, we know that plans change and we are here to support you through that. Doulas are still important if you get an epidural! We are able to support you with position changes to keep working your baby down and getting him or her in the best position. Additionally, we are still supporting you post-birth regardless of pain management used during birth.

  • Absolutely not! A doula can benefit any birth- whether that be at home, in the hospital, unmedicated, medicated, vaginal, or cesarean. A doula helps you achieve the birth that you want, regardless of where it takes place!

  • It is never too early to hire your doula! Your due date is reserved when you sign your contract and pay your deposit. We take 4 clients per month, so spots are limited!

  • Yes! When we sign the contract, we can find a payment solution that works for you. We require the fee to be paid in full by 36 weeks.

  • Right now, no. We are hoping to complete the requirements for Tricare coverage soon!
